Yeah it's looking like that fellas, still going to check out the machine shop just to make sure but I found one for $750 30mi away, bout the cost of a rebuild kit and I don't have to fool with it

I just looked at my 3500 crank in the garage, and it doesn't have any markings similar to what you are showing on it. Oddly, it actually sent a rod through the oil pan, and bent another one into a crescent moon shape. Not sure on the cause, as I picked it up on ebay as a bad short block several years back.

was there any warranty or recall for this engine based on GM's faulty coolant and gasket design? I have heard there was a case by case basis going on but nothing official.

Yeah I have no idea about those crank marks, never seen that on any motor before either. Thanks for checking your crank for me too.

Doesn't look like you'd be eligible though...

yeah I see, thanks for the info though. Looks like parting this thing out may be a viable alternative and just going with a new car.

couple engine across town, some are pontiac torrent engines. How can I find out the interchangeability of these engines. I mean if it only requires swapping intakes and oil pans then no sweat. Are there any computer interferences dropping a 2006 torrent motor into my 05 NOX? , should I swap my sensors?

Can't look it up right now, but I'll check out what changes came about for that engine between 05 and 06. It should be a relatively easy and direct swap though. I'll be able to look up the differences in a couple hours and post them up.

The 2006 Torrent engine will be a direct swap with a 2005 Equinox.

Thanks so much for that info man! I haven't posted back since I have been installing that engine actually, i have the engine in and just finishing the last bolts and wiring connections, One question though guys... Where can I fill the trans fluid and check the level?? I spilled some tanny fluid before and now need to top it off. I guess this is one of those trans that isnt owner serviceable but Im sure there is a way. Thanks so much guys!
