  • Question about 3100 Intake and coolant entrance

The cross over tube on top of the intake, from the water pump to the intake just behind the throttle body. Do I need to use sealant on the tube before I insert it back into the intake. If I need to use sealant, what sealant do I need to use?

    Thank You,Jimmy

Just to verify, are you talking about part #14 in the following diagram? http://60degreev6.com/content.php/16...-Exploded-View

There aren't any connections between the water pump and the intake that I can think of that require any type of sealant.

I have to correct myself.some of my first info. is wrong. The tube is on top of the lower intake.
Runs from the water pump,to the front of the intake. Enters close to the thermastat.

Another question,What do you use on the lower intake bolts, thread sealer or thread locker?

Oh, no sealant on there either. Did it actually come out of the manifold?? Don't think I've ever seen one come out.

As far as the bolts go, you want thread locker, so that the bolts will remain tight and not back out.

The tube is out,it is a pressed in fit.

wouldn't hurt to put just a bit of sealant around the lip of where its pressed to... I wouldn't slather the whole pipe in sealant, but I would just get it around the lip to ensure when its pressed in there is a little sealant there just in case removing and re-installing it caused the press fit to not be the best.
