  • map sensor

    i have an 89 beretta i put a 3.1 in the car ... but it did not have a map sensor before ... does any one no where the wires for the plug in the map go like can i spice it in some where ? or can i get a new intake for the 3.1 without a map i know 2.8s dont have a map .... do all 3.1 s have a map ?

    they all should have amap sensor no? i thought in 87 they switched from maf to map sensor.

    should be on the fire wall on the passenger side of the windsheild wiper motor.

    will have a vac house coming out the bottom of it and should plug into the wiring harness in that area.
    the other day i was thinking about going back to college.


    i decided to put gas in my car instead

      I thought they all had MAP as well. Even MAF cars (at least GM ones) have MAP sensors.

        It should definately have a MAP sensor. If not your computer was probably setting a code and really wasn't running correctly. Like he said above it is on the fire wall just to the left of the wiper motor. If you have the plastic covers on your car you will have to remove those to see it.

          Yup all EFI cars for GM are MAP equipped. Even today. Infact all EFI cars need to have some sort of sensor to read vacuum. If not you have no way of telling the load that is on the engine.
