  • 91 Lumina Euro 3.1 with 34K Stalling out HELP ME

I just purchased a 1991 Lumina Euro with only 34,000 miles on it. The car is nearly perfect, however, after driving for a while (sometimes 5 miles, sometimes 80) the car just shuts off with no prior warning and wont restart. It cranks but wont start. I have replaced the fuel filter and the crank position sensor. I thought the sensor fixed the problem but it died on me again last night.

Here is another bit of info. After the car stalls and will only crank but won't restart, if i remove the fuel pump relay and plug it right back in the car starts right back up and will run again for any random amount of time before shutting off again. I have swapped the relay out with other relays but the problem didnt go away.

Has anyone heard of or had this problem?? Please help me out. This car will be so neat if i can just solve this problem. Thanks in advance guys and gals.

Thanks so much for your help. I'll check the link out and see what I can find out. I have google'd the problem as well and it seems that a few people have solved the problem with an ignition control module.....Guess i'll try that out and see what happens.

      Thanks again
