Had to remove the transmission from a 94 firebird to replace rusted out freeze plugs. was wondering what this connection is and what it connects to. Thought it was an electrical connection but there are no pins just a plunger in the middle.[IMG][/IMG]

What is hiding down inside the other end of that tube?...And was this something you unbolted, unscrewed or removed .... or did it just fall out on the ground when you slid the xnsmishun out? Is this vehicle a manual or an automatic? This does not resemble anything I have ever seen in the 4th Gen F-Body Carline Series...yet.
Oh...and as for Freeze Plugs... I highly recommend using these... in lieu of the OEM galvanized steel ones...

Sorry for not enough details and the poor pics. It is an automatic transmission and unplugged from the transmission wiring bundle on top of the transmission. I was just kind of curious it had a plunger that you can kind of see in the picture and has 2 wires on the back end. I never seen anything like it and was wondering what it was called.

lol. um.
if its got a plunger in it -- and two wires coming out the back -- thats probably the oil pressure sending unit (that large silver cover slips off the whole thing)0 . it should be screwed into the oil filter adapter on the drivers side of the engine -- i would be very curious to know what his oil gauge on the dashboard reads while the car is running...and if the "plunger" is actually a cap screwed on top of the sending unit itself.
is the oil filter perpendicular or parallel to the engine ?
