  • Question : code 0801

I'm getting a fault code p0801 , it saids in the tuner reverse inhibit control circiuit malfuction, does anyone know what causes that or have any input about that code , also in the box that show the codes instead of the light on box being checked , the set this iginition box is checked, again somebody explain that. i;m been having a problen with the car jerking and surging at very light throttle. thanks

"set this ignition" means that it happened in the same cycle in which you were reviewing the data, which means the fault is a hard failure. I believe "reverse inhibit" is what prevents the transmission from selecting reverse if it detects vehicle speed . . . .which means you can't throw it in reverse while rolling forward. Double check the transmission range/position sensor for proper input or adjustment, slop in the shift cable or mechanism, etc. As for the "jerking and surging", does it seem to be shifting back and forth between 1st and 2nd? Have you tried putting the shifter in low range and accelerating slowly to about 3500rpm, then manually bump the shifter up one? Is the shift nice and solid? Inquiring minds want to know.

If you ain't rock and roll, you must be driving a Honda

Tried starting with the selector in a lower gear, worked in a normal way, my car does more jerking than surging when shifting up and down at randon times, also when letting of the throttle, i've had the problem for about 7 months changed and tried everything i could think of, guess i'll just have to live with it. i will look at the selector and linkage. thanks
