  • '99 3.1 Teardown Question

The 3.1 int/hd gasket replacement has gone extremely slowly for Family reasons.
It is at the stage where the front side of the engine components need removal.
Question: Can I remove the Power Steering / Alternator assembly all as a single component and move it out of the way enough to replace the head gaskets?
Or do I have to disassemble each part separately?
Just trying to save some time.
    TIA for any helpful replies.

On my '95 camaro 3.4L the whole bracket was bolted to the head and block. (1) bolt on the head and (2 or 3) to the block. I removed the one going into the head first, then the (2) upper ones into the block, the third one into the block was a stud with a wire loom holder. The wire loom holder needs to be spread apart and the wire loom pushed aside to unbolt that last one.

Of course your mileage may vary.
