  • manifold sizes?

I was wondering if someone could tell me if the fiero y pipe is the same size ball and socket flange as the 2nd gen 3.1l mpfi 2 bolt manifolds? Thanks, Andrew.

The gen 2 3.1 uses a crossover pipe rather than the y-pipe of the Fiero. I'll have to go root through some parts boxes to confirm this, but I believe that the 3.1 ball and socket is larger than that of the 2.8 - we're probably only talking 1/4" or so.

I've thrown out a lot of parts, but still have 2.8 exhaust manifolds, y-pipe and the 3.1 crossover. I'll see if I can get you some measurements later today.

Thanks! I knew that the fiero has a y pipre and that the gen 2 and 3x00 motors use a crossover i just wasnt sure on any size difference. I have a 2nd gen 3.1l in my fiero that i had started with the 3x00 manifolds dumping iut the rear. That was a tight fit though and i had problems with leaks at the flange. Now it uses a modified 3x00 crossover as a y pipe and stock fiero exhaust. But im wondering if a turbo kit i have for a stock fiero would bolt up to stock gen 2 two bolt style manifolds. Thanks for any help and sorry for the long explanation.

Well, I found the Fiero crossover pipe. It's 1.5" tubing that flares out to 2" at the ball and socket joints.

Couldn't find the box with the 3.1 crossover to measure the difference in the bolt spacing on the flanges.

        Hope this helps a bit.
