  • 1998 3100 Cylinder Banks Reversed?

Did head gaskets, LIM & timing chain on 98 Achieva. When I took it apart, the rear cylinder bank had the factory wires labeled 1-3-5 (I know because the #5 plug wire broke in half when I tried to remove it) and the FI harness showed the connectors numbered 1-3-5 going to the injectors on the back head. Now that I am Putting it back together, the numbers cast in the LIM shows the rear bank as 2-4-6, and that looks like what the manuals show it should be. Has anybody seen this before? I hate to put it back together the way it was just to have to take it all apart again.

most people don't realize that the intakes cross from left to right, so you're fine.

Yes, the numbering on the LIM is stamped on the runner. Since the runner starts on one side of the engine and crosses over to the other, it confuses a lot of people. They always see the number on the LIM and assume that corresponds to the cylinder directly below the number, when it actually refers to the cylinder across from the number.
