I believe the problem may be fixed, but not 100% sure. My dad knows a guy that is a GM mechanic for a living. The GM guy said that what usually causes these high idle problems is a gummed up throttle. Apparently, over the years so much crap can build up around the throttle door that it does not fully close. My dad disconnected the black intake hose to gain access to the inside of the throttle, leaving the throttle bolted to the manifold, and went in there and got a bunch a black stuff out of there using a toothbrush and a fair amount of cleaner. He also gave the IAC a more thorough cleaning. Things are looking good so far and we'll see how it goes from here.
