  • cracked rings? oil in intake...

I recently picked up a 91 beretta with a 3.1, just a parts car. It seems to run a bit rough, and i noticed oil in the intaked tube, before the TB. I replaced the pcv valve, but it made no change.

The car had a blown head gasket not to long ago which was fixed with a sealer, BlueDevil i think.

I was wondering if the car overheating with bad head gaskets could have caused the rings to go bad, the car runs great when i clean out the intake, but it doesnt take long for it to get oily again.

Any ideas would be helpful, thanks.

    Blowby. Sorry.
If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

definately blowby. Your rings might just be sticking and get by with flushing it a few times but it's probably time for a re-ring kit
Why pay someone to do the work, it costs alot and you don\'t learn s*^t!!!

Even if you replace the PCV you will still get some oil in the intake before the TB from the line that runs from the front valve cover to the intake tube. You're rings arent bad. If you disconnect that hose (which I wouldnt recommend) the oil will go a way. Or just put a crankcase breather filter on there

Doesn't sound like blowby to me. My breather filter that I have on my front valve cover gets oil on it. When it used to be connected to the air intake, the air intake would get oil all in it. My dads TGP was the same way...my sisters '93 LE is the same way. Oil gets in the air intake because of the breather tube on the front valve cover. Unless its a LOT of oil, I am pretty sure thats all it is.

its enough to make the car missfire and foul plugs..so im guessing its not normal =/

My car had oil on my passenger plugs.. enough to foul them every couple weeks... oil residue on everything back from the throttle body. Idled poorly.... turned out my intake gasket was fubar. It's on it's way back together... little late on the response, but I just joined here.
