    thanks for the input will check out tomorrow. only had the car a week. dad drove it from california it was his parents. as far as i know only routine maintenance was done and it has a rebuilt tranny in it. 137k on the clock. do you think i could have shorted something out with the amp install or is this unrelated? its just weird it runs excellent when it starts it holds a smooth idle and revs awesomely but only in park lol. going to take a look inside the collum as well maybe something getting shorted out by the shifter when its moved.

      also noticed if the brake is pressed in it will kill the car as well. wtf? power steering pump makin little noise when cold and i little low on fluid bout to top her off. what could the brakes be doing to kill the car? i checked all over for vacuum leaks as well.

        Brakes are vacuum controlled (big hose going from the manifold to the brake booster), therefore when you press on the brakes, it puts a load on the engine. Almost sounds like your IAC valve might be bad.

            also just noticed i can grab the top of the belt and move the tensioner a couple of inches very easily. is this normal?

                replaced iac and same results. goin to replace belt. fights a little longer with the new iac though before it dies.

                  alright figured it out a couple days ago. started tracin all the grounds and found the tail light ground to be loose. tightened it down and it ran fine! thanks for the help
