  • Question : Transmission problem.

Well i think the monte may not last much longer, The trans has been acting the same since i changed the fluid and filter a while back.

Then today i was trying to make a turn light, So i go maybe 1/3 throttle, Everythings great.

Then i make it through the light and as i'm turning on the highway i start to roll into the throttle starting from about 1/2 to 3/4 and nothing.....

Then after holding that for about 1.5-2 seconds the damm thing jumps up to the redline and then some, Just like it is free revving.

The line pressure on these things are not controlled by vacuum are they?

    Any thoughts?

Or is it finally time for my 3400/3500 hybrid swap?

You could try a $7 bottle of GM dealership auto transmission fluid seal conditioner. You may luck out, but sounds like you'll need a rebuild... Mine seems to act strange for a month out of each year, different problem, then it goes away... LOL... My clutches aren't so grabby anymore though. You can put an adjustable modulator on there that goes to like a TH350/400/power glide and turn up the pressure too. My stock modulator was worn out.

Thanks for the replys guys, I think i may give that seal conditioner a try if i can find it. This is the first and only time it has ever done this, I just wish i would have done this before winter. I still need to check my tune and make sure everything is ok with that and go from there, But my buddy is out of town and i have been useing his HPT setup to tune/scan.

Also, I did not know i could use a adjustable modulator for the TH350/400, I may check into that if i have to replace this trans.

EDIT: I found this cheap, I may just end up grabing it because even if this trans dies i can use this on the next one.

They say it is preset for stock shift points, What do you guys think?

Well everything seems fine so far.

The modulator is installed and working great.

The trans has not done anything odd yet.

So maybe if i am lucky it was just in a bad mood the other day.
