  • Question : 3400SFI bubbles in watertank intak or head gasket?

    Hello,

I'm new in the GM world. I saw that the 3.1 and 3.4 engines got intake manifold gasket problems.

Here's my problem.. I bought a 99 Pontiac Montana. When the engine is hot, the water temp go high on idle and go normal when I'm running. There's a lot of air bubbles in the overflow tank also and there's no heat from vents.

I want to know if it's possibly the intake gasket problem that can cause the bubbles, or if it's really an headgasket failure.

Do I have to remove the engine in the Montana to do headgaskets?

I'm french so my english can be bad, sorry.

    Thank you!

In my experience, it sounds like you have bad head gaskets. No, you do not have to remove the engine to do head gaskets, you can do them in the van but it will be a pain in the backside. Ask me how I know, lol.

(PS, I thought your English is fine and understood exactly what you meant Welcome to the site!)
