  • Question : Crankshaft Pulley/Damper

We have a '92 Pontiac Trans Sport with the 3.1 TBI V6 engine.

Our crakshaft pulley/damper rubber isolation seems to be in bad shape so we need to start looking for a replacement.

After browsing online I haven't found any store (autozone, rockauto, partstrain) that carry this part and I think that I cannot fix the problem by looking for a used part in better shape - the rubber could be just as old as mine and fail.

Do you know any way we can find this part new/remanufactured?

The alternative would be to take it to a shop and weld in a metal bushing instead of the rubber isolation. What are the chances for it to work as good as the original part?

You cannot weld in a bushing you will completely defeat the purpose of the damper.

The GM Part Number is 24504610 but it is discontinued by GM but may be available by other websites or distributors or there might be a reproduction out there.

Does that motor have the balancer and pulley incorporated as one or does the crank pulley bolt to the front of it?

Thank you for the part number!

I finally found it at http://www.compnine.com/index.php?u=...00&grouptype=B

I hope it will last for another 10 years of service.
