    this has to be a stupid question.. im attempting to put a new distributer in my fiero, never done one before so im going by the book. why cant i find timming marks on my harmonic balancer? am i blind? its a 2.8 iron head

    any1 have a pic?

    One indicates TDC. You will have to find that by putting a screwdriver in the spark plug hole and have someone rotate the engine until you feel the piston pushing up on the screwdriver when it is nearing the top the next mark lining up with zero on the timing pointer will be TDC for #1 and #4 piston. While your friend is turning the motor you also need to find the compression stroke by feeling for air being forced out of the plug hole on the number 1 cylinder. Now you can finally drop in your distributor and roughly time it by eye so you can get it started the time it with a timing light to 10*BTDC once it runs

      just found a pic on a fiero forum. guess my engine is just that greasy

      does it matter how the distributer goes in?
