  • 3500 Engine Specs

It looks like the 3500 Engine Specs found on the left hand side of the page may be wrong. I have always been putting in 4 quarts of oil even though the 3100/3400 was 4.5 just because the specs page says 4, but it seems that it may be wrong according to GM.

I have always put in 4.5 with a new filter in mine.

I tried that oil... Hard to tell if it helped anything... I had Mobil 1 10x40 in when I went to Charlotte... thank god with how hot it was down there.

Also I've always over filled mine a tad since I use the larger filter. I run my 4t60 1/2-1 quart overfull I have a very large aux cooler on it, and I run the engine at 5 quarts total, I would probably be fine with 4.5, but with the RPM's I run sometimes I don't mind having that 1/2 quart buffer to keep the level up there.
