I have a 91 Lumi with a 3.1T. It ran pretty good then stopped. Last
July it would lite off run at idle until it warmed up, then sputter and
die. I had read where these things cook the ICM since it's located
down it front of the engine and can heat sink cooking it. So I
started there. Just replaced it today and it still won't lite off. Fuel
pressure is at 45psi and constant. One time I got a spark off the
test plug I was using to check spark and it almost fired up, then
spark died and that's been it. I hooked up my old scan tool to
it and saw that IPW was at 25.9. That seems excessive. When
cranking it dropped down to around 17.6. Could it be that I'm
having a prob with the ECM and that the ride is going into clear
flood mode cutting the spark ? I know it'll kill the pump till
it clears. Could a faulty oil pres swt cause the spark to shut off
at crank time ? All ECM fuses look good. Fuel pump is pumping.
According to the scan tool, there are no codes and the sensors
appear to be in range. I'm stumped and could use some good
tips, advise, or and info.
Thanks,
