It's a '95 iron head out of a Firebird, 130,000 miles. Ran good in the car it was pulled from, I saw it.
I'm putting it in a '29 dodge 4 door.
So while I'm cleaning it up, should I just go ahead and replace the LIM?
Is there anyway to tell if the gasket has been replaced already?
What I know is;
*Some one was in the engine, 3 exhaust manifold bolts were broken off ( amazingly no exhaust leaks )
* water jacket looks clean, as viewed through the thermostat hole
* I can see a metal gasket sticking out from between the intake and the heads in the corner.
*The front and rear of the intake is sealed with a bead of black RTV
* the UIM gasket was hard and brittle.
*The valve cover gaskets are cork and black RTV
Thanks!
Keith
