  • bad o2 sensor heater?

so im having issues with my car going crazy lean during cruise (like in the 22s and and it prettymuch dies). only thing i can think of is my o2 sensor heater, the car does the same thing if the heater wire isnt hooked up.. under wot the afr is normal... im going to play around with it today but does any1 know how to test the heater?? or have any other ideas?

in your datalogs it seems to do that when the MAP values go outside the range of the spark and VE table, the ecm pulls all kinds of fuel.

try shifting either up or down when that happens and see if it goes away.

i tried that last night with no change unless it was more that part throttle. today i let it idle for 15 mins on #4 file (laptop died after i uploaded it last night) then i changed it back to 15, took it out it out and it was fine for about 20 mins, then it went lean.. even going up my driveway in first. its gotta be something stupidly simple.

i was going to grab a new fuel filter today, mine is a few years old but maybe 15 or 20k on it at most. but if the ecm is acually pulling fuel im guessing thats not the problem

One way you could check this is by monitoring your O2 signal voltage from cold start. If it doesn't start to swing between 0 and 1 volt after 3 minutes, then the O2 or it's heater is bad.

ok, i'll give that a shot. one thing i dont get is how the heater acually has so much affect on how the car runs.

          thanks

i need to work on the part throttle VE some more, possibly the spark advance. The o2 values look fine, it might be worth while to pull it out and clean it real good with carb cleaner though.

ok, so you do think its tunning and not some sensor or something? it doesnt make sense to me how it was just fine before and now its doing it on all the previous files too

i will clean both sensors tomorrow and recalibrate my wideband while im at it

              thanks

Watch the voltage for the fuel pump? See if they drop real low? Maybe ckp sensor intermittent?
