  • 1995 grand prix 3.1 help!!!!!!!!!!

i recently posted a question about how to fix my gp with its broken front right cv and ball joint (lower) but i also forgot to ask this. after i got iy towed back to my back yard i dropped it off the flat bed and it proceeded to roll while it was in park, is that connected to the cv/bj problem?? and also after the axle broke but before i knew what was wrong i started the car and shifted it into drive and it made this repetitive clicking noise (almost a grinding noise), is that just the shaft trying to catch the cv ??? or is it conneced to this problem i encountered, i was driving a steady speed of 35 mph when i was suddenly shifted into park from 35 and it made a grinding sound befored i stopped and proceeded to shifting back into drive and going about my business which was two weeks before the cv/bj incident. someone please help ME!!!!!!

when my ball joint broke it did the same thing. your diff is a open diff so sense there is nothing holding the broken axle from spinning it will spin because its the path of lease resistance.. Replace the ball joint and CV and it would be smart to replace the other ball joint as well (its prob. shot as well) and call it a day. i doubt it is related to the incident a couple weeks ago... what you described sounds exactly like what mine did.

      BTW get MOOG ball joints.

If one CV is broke, park won't work cause that works by when one wheel moves forward, it makes the other go backwards. Take one wheel out of the equation, and it won't keep the car from rolling. Also when in drive it will turn the CV's, if one is broke the brake is not there to hold it and it will rotate.

Now things might be damaged by going into park while moving like that, but fix the CV first and the first two issues you describe should go away. The parking prawl might be worn and beat up, might want to drop the pan and change the filter and get any metal out of the pan......
