I swear it doesn't sound like a rod knock. if it is there is more than one knocking when you rev it a little, its still holding 45psi oil pressure and has 150+ psi on each cyl.

Sounds like rod knock to me, unless you have something broken in the valvetrain....

Since it needs to be repaired anyways, go ahead and pull the intake manifolds and valve covers.

If it's blown, snag a 3.4 from a 4th gen F body, put your intakes and sensors on it and call it a day

If you want more, put a 3500 top end on that, cam and tune it to be a quick little 6.

sounds neat, this engine runs so good i just can't beleaive it has a bad rod, but might be fun to mess with this little 6 banger, really tempted to drop a lt1 in it and call it a day, but this might be pretty decent, any idea what kinda mpg you'd get with a n/a 3.4/3500 combo? with a 700r4 and 3.42 gears?

Probably in the neighborhood of 25+MPG, the engine weighs ~300lbs less than a small block, and about match an LT1 for power

Thanks ,been doing alot of reading last night. Is it just the pics or are the 3500 heads bigger? or is it because they are taller they seem bigger.

Nice. That was definitely rod knock. I'm talking from experience. I bought a 95 Z28 with a bad rod, ran it 40 miles back to my house thinking I could make it, and threw the rod through the oil pan about 2 blocks from my house. I still saved the money on having it towed though.
