It will be awhile but will I have to worry about the LIM gasket on my 2007 G6 GT with the LZ4 3500 or was there a fix for that? I tried searching but didn't come up with anything. Thanks.
GEN4 I think does not even route the coolant through the LIM, but through a pipe or something with o-rings back around. I think they also have metal intake gaskets both top and bottom (plastic could get brittle and cause vacuum leak like what happened to me, even if no coolant leaking)
The "updated" GM gaskets in 2004 for 3400's still fail, they just have metal tabs to prevent being crushed. They can still warp and distort. The LX9 3500 (non VVT) has plastic and I'd watch those.
But if yours is the LZ4 VVT 3500 then I wouldn't worry too much, but always make note of the bottom of the oil fill cap when you get your oil changed to make sure it's clean and no mayonnaise. Just as normal maintenance. Always be aware of odd things with your car and you'll catch any problem before it's too late.
There was a thread of one took apart (3900, same thing basically) at one time. I forget by who.

They made a 224hp 3500? Damn, my parents 3900 is 222hp. There is no coolant like they said and everything is metal for gaskets, including the MLS head gaskets. These motors should pretty solid but only time will tell.

It was 224 hp in 2007 for the G6 and then they changed it in 2008 and newer to 219 hp for gas mileage I guess? My old 2005 G6 GT with the LX9 had 200 hp and there is a big difference between the LZ4 and LX9 once there out of first gear. The LZ4 will run away from the LX9. They put a lot of torque management in the LZ4 in first gear. Thanks
