  • Question : DTC for O2 Sensor Heater Performance

So last week my GP set a SES light. I scanned it, showed O2 Sensor Heater Performance. It set the code moments after startup, so I am assuming this means the O2 sensor isn't heating up fast enough.

I found it odd since my O2 sensor is just a year old, it was a Bosch from Autozone that I got to put in my headers.

All o2 values seemed to be fine on the wideband, so I cleared the code to see if it would come back. Sure enough, today it comes back, car still runs fine however.

Is my bosch O2 sensor just a POS or what?

What exact code are you getting? It is possible that your O2 sensor has gone bad. They are a little on the delicate side of things.

Actually I have read on this board that this is true for Bosch o2 sensors, sadly.

          Here is the exact DTC...

          0135 HO2S Heater Performance

Think I should just replace the sensor? Sadly, I have heard bad experiences with Bosch O2 sensors on our cars as well (from here).

Anyone have a suggestion as to what O2 sensor socket I should buy? I got one from Advanced Auto Parts (an AmPro tool) and it SUCKED. In fact, all AmPro tools I have got have sucked. The O2 socket expanded first time I used it allowing my old O2 sensor to turn the wrong way in the socket and get jammed in there... I took up to the store to return it and they were shocked!

I'd replace it since it's a Bosch anyway. Sparkplugs.com I got my Denso OEM 1994 beretta O2 for like $40 shipped or something. Not sure if it's the same connector as yours but you can see. I think the OBDII ones are more.
