  • Head Gasket tork spec.

    I need to tork down some heads on a 97 monte carlo 3.1L can anyone tell me the spec. in inch. pounds or is their a web site were I can find this info
    just need head gasket info

    I have a 95 and it was 33-35 (not sure) and then another quarter turn. Also make sure you do it in the correct pattern.

      thanks for that, I have this engine torn down and I just picked up the heads from the machine shop.I had thed heads pressure tested,valve grind,and new seals.I have the felpro head gasket,and just wanted to make sure I have the right tork.
      just need head gasket info

        Did you have them shaved at all. If you went radical make sure you check that the piston don't make contact. Is this for performance gains or did you end up losing you LIM gaskets?

          Make sure you are using brand new head bolts. They are one time tighten bolts....they stretch

              I didnt know that the head bolts were one time tighten bolts.Can you tell me the cost for new head bolts.

              Also I had water in the cranck case,thats why Im replacing the head gasket.
              just need head gasket info

                I think a new set of head bolts its around $30-$40 from GM.
