  • Question : 3.1L help

After the tear down on my 3.1L V6, I get codes 33 and 34, with some very sporadic idle, (Jumps up and down between 1200-3000 rpms) I'm thinking I may have crossed over a few vacuum lines or got a vacuum leak somewhere. Does anyone have a diagram of all the vacuum lines, so i can go through and double check?

Also I got a very loud whining sound not coming from the serpentine belts either and cant figure out what it may be, any ideas?

the wine could be the tranny pump? have a stethoscope you could use to try and see where the wine is coming from?

Check the power steering fluid and make sure its toped up, that pump can whine pretty good when low on fluid.

the whining sound I was hearing was from the hose on the PCV valve and thats been fixxed. Does anyone have a vacuum hose chart? I got a few vacuum hoses I need to check out. Right now the car has very crappy idle and sometimes die completely.

Codes 33 and 34 both can mean two things each.
33 can mean MAP sensor voltage too high OR excessive airflow from the MAF sensor.
34 can mean MAP sensor voltage too low OR low airflow from the MAF sensor.
I would check the plug connection at the MAP sensor (should be on your firewall directly behind the maniflold) and the vacuum line running from it to your manifold in the back. Check your MAF to see the screen isn't clogged and the connection is tight. There is no way to test your MAP sensor, only replacement. Fairly certain the same is true on your MAF sensor as well. Start there.
As to your vacuum diagram , it should be under the hood either on the radiator support or strut tower. White label. I'll try to find a blown up version on the Net for you. GL.

Sorry I lied or mis-spoke. Here is the method for testing your MAP sensor. My bad.

code 34 is gone now, just leaving 33, I checked for vacuum leaks using carb cleaner and got nothing from that, I'm running out of patients with this car.

Test the MAP sensor. If it tests out ok , time for a new MAF sensor.

I bought a new MAP sensor yesterday, that made code 34 stop showing

EDIT: Although, when I did the carb cleaner, around the TB the car started idling better but the idle was fairly high too, could it be the TPS too? I'm not getting any codes for the TPS just 33

Sorry about yesterday. We had a bad thunderstorm and I lost power. My internet is CABLE, so if I don't have power, I can't get online.

I was going to tell you to check for a pinched vacuum line leading to the MAP sensor. I remember that happened to me on my STE, and it caused the car to have a weird idle.
