  • Starts Runs, ShutOff,....Won't Start....Fuel???

Hey all, this is a heck of a way to make a first post.

    I have: 1989 Z24 2.8 w/auto

Finally getting this car back up and running after years of neglect. It'll start and run fine it seems. Until I shut off the car. If i go to start again shortly after shut-off, then it sputters as if trying to start. The sputtering gets less and less as I continue to crank until all it is, is just cranking. Leave it alone for awhile (like the next day) and it'll start up and run fine,..........until you shut it off again. When it does run, it doesn't seem like it will run forever. I let it idle in the driveway for maybe an hour to hour and 1/2 and it died. And of course not starting immeadiatly there after.

It kind of seemed to me like it was acting like it was being flooded. One thing I've noticed since i started playing with again was the my fuel consumption was terrible,........worse than my GTO. A thought that enter my mind was what if my Injector are continuing to flow fuel into the one or more of the cylinders after the engine was shut off? The fuel rails/line remain pressurized after shut-off and if the injector was remaining open or leaking the remaining pressure would evacuate the fuel into the affected cylinders. Causing a flooded condition. Or atleast enough to fowl the plugs out.

Any thought? Am i off base here?

I'm gonna pull the plugs and the plenum off the weekend and see what i can see. Cusious to see what the plug tips look like.

I have a spare set of '96 3800 Fuel Injectors off of my running Camaro (getting a transplant). Will these injectors work with my 2.8?

    Thanks

    Shay
