  • Turbo 3.1 fueling problem?

need help figuring this out, here are the symtoms, any boost it acts like it has no fuel and falls flat on its face, the fuel pump was replaced in 04, i changed the fuel filter about 4 months ago when i got the car, got code 44 02 lean, my cheapo a/f gauge is all the way in lean so its gotta be fuel, i even unhooked the cheapo gauge to make sure it wasnt the origin....I hooked up a vacuum line and blew into the regulator and it seemed to be airtight. Im on my way to the store to buy a fuel pressure kit, ill be back with results.

Im guessing it needs a fuel pump , could the mufflers be clogged or something? is there any way the evap system has to do with this because my whole gas cap area has been sooting up with carbon, there is a lot of heat coming from the back area of the car... but the car always boosted fine since yesterday. thanks guys i really need to figure this out!

idle fuel pressure is around 38 psi , reved up its about 45, i cant check pressure while driving, im going to change the fuel filter and if that doesnt fix it maybe the mufflers collapsed? any help is appreciated! thanks

Mufflers clogged will cause a rich condition due to very badly reduced engine VE and increased intake maifold pressure.

You're most likely on the right track with the fuel pump. Probably not delivering enough volume of fuel flow to maintain pressure when engine's fuel demands are high.
