    If it is the same as all of the 60v6's I've worked on, you do not need to remove the heat shield to take the downpipe off. I've always put the car up on stands and crawled under it on a creeper with a long extension to reach the downpipe bolts from below. On the 91 one time I took my cutting torch and heated a spare combo wrench up to bend the box end to a 45* angle just above the box to do the downpipe from above. Reason being for that one was that the car was in grass and the weeds had grown up around it, and I wasn't about to crawl under it and had made it its home.
