  • My 3100 Leaks a Quart of Oil Every Month

LIM gaskets were just replaced.. I think it may be leaking from the oil pan gasket. Where do these engines commonly leak oil??

Theres an oil pump drive seal O-ring thats very common for leaks. Its right under the TB on the block.

I hope its not leaking from the oil pump drive... That would suck.

It's not that bad, much better place to leak vs the oil pan. Once ya actually get to the oil pump drive all you have to do to replace it is unbolt a little bracket that keeps it down, get a screwdriver and pry the pump drive up and it comes out. Rip off old gasket, clean up, reinstall gasket, put some oil on it all and shove her back in!

You should of replaced the oil pump drive shaft o-ring when you did the LIM gasket. That's like common procedure don't ya know?

My oil pan leaks, but it doesn't lower the oil level significantly between oil changes. It's not even 1/3 of a quart low on oil when I change the oil.

Oil pan would be quicker and easier IMO. Dont you have to pull the heads to replace the pump drive seal?

That's only on the DOHCs that you have to pull the heads...

Why is this in the pushrod section? DOHC needs the rear head pulled off to replace the o-ring.
Pushrod 660 doesn't need the heads removed.
