I just did the 3400 top swap. My 99 3100 has a 2 wire connector, turns out the 97 3400 harness has a three wire.... high speed fans on, need to know how to work out the wiring... thanks...

Uhm..... Screw in your old 2 wire and use your old wiring....... Simple.... LOL Maybe the thrown off CTS value is making it shift hard? That or the MAF is not connected...sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

when you look at the wires in the connector, there is 3 wires. 2 are side by side, and one in the middle under the other 2. The one in the middle all by its lonesome is used for the DASH TEMP GAUGE. Just don't use it.
The other 2 wires should be BLACK, and YELLOW. Just connect them to their corrosponding colours, and all should be well with the world. The middle wire that you don't use should be GREEN (if you have a coolant temp gauge, you might have a single wire sensor on the REAR HEAD of the engine).Taylor

K. Then it means he will not use that GREEN wire at all.
In that case, it would just be cutting off the 3 wire connector, and tucking away the green wire, then soldering yellow to yellow, and black to black on the old connector.
I don't think GM used different colour wires for different cars. The only times I have seen anything different was with the 3.4 DOHC, and it was for the 1 wire sensor for the GAUGES. It had a purple wire instead of a green one. The yellow and black have always remaind the same.Taylor

as it turns out... i did pull the plenum...
the wiring harness from my 99 had a two different style connectors on it... me, the super awsome genius that i am, found something else that wasnt even plugged in... (sarcasm on the genius thing). anyways... im bucking the sucker back down now... hopefully she'll run a little better since my coolant wont be -35.

this thing is running like an absolute bag of shit. at hiway speed it down shifts and then gets back into cruising gear... it's a fucking dog off the line, and doesnt downshift without really laying into it...
the code it now has is crankshaft high/low resolution correlation. This code was not present before i switched the coorect harness back in to solve the coolant temp sensor problem... i cannot see what i could have done to fuck anything else up....
im wondering if it needs the battery unplugged, and then a re-learn procedure done. I stopped on the way home and shut the car off... and when i turned it on it almost didnt start... it kept stalling.. so something if fucked and i dont know how to resolve it. I've had many plenums off and never once have i had these types of problems... this was supposed to be easy and enjoyable!

Alright... after swapping harnesses, i started the car without putting three front plug wires back on the coilpacks... packs traded sparks, I fried the ICM.
Swapped with known good, all is well. now i have to go buy an ICM for the car I took it off of, because the car is off our sales lot and was just bought. FUDGE ME im an idiot. I actually have video of me saying throughout "i think somethings going to fuck up", and i have video of the exact moment in which I unknowingly destroyed my ICM.

LOL man that should of been a straight forward swap. Mine went smoother and I was swapping on a LIM that I had to take off and re-clearance again for my rockers to clear, and adapting a 3500 plenum on top to boot! LOL
So the problem was fried ICM? Or did that happen after the fact it wasn't running well?? If you didn't need one ASAP I have some ICM's I could sell at a good price LOLsigpic New 2010 project (click image)

im short on brains, not money. I got the new ICM in the other car, all is well. yeah it was a strait forward swap, except i didnt anticipate the harness difference, and I made a mistake leaving the wires off because i was tired as fuck by that time... i was doing my stuff AND a little side work in the shop... 18 hours buddy! 4:30 this morning i woke up and all i could think about was getting the lumina over here and swapping the coils and ICM to confirm... then later I just went and bought it... aftermarket ICM for $140. I took the GM control modual for my car, cuz I dont like the aftermarket shit... so it wasnt all as strait forward as just swapping plenums... im always doing shit by the book, never having to swap wiring and that... but whatever, i do deserve a couple idiot points...
i should put the video up here... i look so stupid it's halarious

Ouch that cost more than the one I put in my car after I figured it was the ICM and COULDN'T be the CPS I just replaced.. (it was the cps.. damn autozone parts)... lol
FWIW I keep as much of the original vehicles parts as possible. I know they work and what condition they are in. I keep the others as spares. That cuts down on trouble shooting guessing. And yeah I guess you swapped over the 3400 injectors and all that leaving it in the LIM so you figured just leave the wire harness to save time too huh?sigpic New 2010 project (click image)
