beats me. thing sat for 3 months prior to taking the engine out and fired up first try with no effort and no noise from the engine and this is with having the battery out the whole time.

once i fix the idle a little lower and let it run for a few hopefully the remaining lifters should fill up.

ok heres a scan and a video from today
        Scan

its actually idling solid no fluctuations. i RTV'ed the t-body gasket to the plenum and the throttlebody, i think it might have not been sealing 100% causing my really low IAC count on the stock setup.

this is with the lifters rebuilt with the LT1 springs inside them. only thing i can think of is the pushrods are a smidge too long.

i also changed out the injectors with ones of the same thing, so unless every injector i have is super noisy its not them. before it seemed like it was running rough maybe a clogged injector or something along that line.

also smells kinda rich. no more metal flowing through the oil though so that phase has come and gone.

its getting to the point of if this cant be solved real soon, this car is going to join the beretta notice how thats not around anymore.

im really sick of dicking around with oh this might work and taking the engine apart for stuff that might fix the problem.

i expected some lifter noise that would eventually go away. but this has been run for about 20 minutes total so far.

who ever thinks that amount of noise is acceptable needs to lay off the drugs.

I just took a vid, all you can hear in my drivetrain is my headers ping, and the PCV valve chattering from the funky vac due to the cam... I'll post the link when it uploads to photobucket.

yeah my video took forever to upload. forgot to turn the camera off while i shut the scan off.

on a side not the idles good and my iac count is finally normal, you remember how low they were before.

on another not car related note i went and did the physical shit for the new job so given that that stuff takes a few days to get back to them i should be working soon

I guess thats a bad vid to post because the damn headers sound like his tapping...

oh well, all I know is I have no valvetrain noises like his motor.

only thing I can think of doing is if you still have that other 3400, throw a stock cam in it, and then measure the lifter height from the deck when on the base circle, then measure yours... for both intake and exhaust, then that will tell you how much longer your pushrods should be over stock... if they are longer than that, then um yeah most likely your issue.

yeah i still got the old 3400 on the engine stand in my garage.
so basically measure how much the lifter travels with the pastic retainer in place.
ill have to find something to measure with.
the lifters i got in there with the LT1 springs are pretty damn solid.

No just measure how much the lifter itself is sticking up from the block, plastic thing not there...

how much the housing is sticking out really... If you had a set of calipers you could do that.

it stick up 3/16 from the block. looks like i get to do the hose mod so i can get at the front valve cover.

same measurement for both intake and exhaust.
maybe ill go out and see what i can find for a basic set of calipers

oh yeah dont know if i told you buti got some u-joint things for the ratchets and i found my wrench in the back of the toolbox down the bottom

so are you telling me i have to take this thing apart again
