Superdave, can you get a video of your cam?

I'm going to get a video of my cam, it's a very similar noise as yours just not nearly as loud. I can hear my cam clankin around if the car is silent and I go to like 3k from a slow roll. It's done it forever... it freaked me out and I asked my mechanic and he said cams like that just do like and I should only worry if it started to get louder (it never has).

BULLL SHIT! thats the cam profile... He only has a 1357 profile, mines a 1280 intake and 1331 exhaust. very similar to his but I have more lift on the exhaust and less .050 duration on intake.

I think you can hear how radical my cam profile is and it doesnt sound ANYTHING like his under the hood...

if you heard this sound in person you would have a totally different respect for it and you would NOT say its nothing to worry about, this is a mechanical TAPPING sound that is NOT normal and shouldn't be ignored... HELL any valve train noise shouldn't be ignored, its NOT NORMAL!

There is nothing wrong Lorenzo has built a lot of these engines. I have heard this in person it sounds like marbles there is nothing wrong. Take the cam out if you don't like it. Otherwise stop worrying about nothing.

I have rebuilt a fair share of these engines with aftermarket cam profiles from mild to wild. More often than not they do this. It is relative to the profile of the cam and the condition/design of the lifter. They do this even on the GEN 1-2 . Crane Cams notoriously do this as well. I even had my '94 Z28 valvetrain make noise when I cammed that. The valvetrain is being moved very fast, it is not a problem.

im not doubting him i just other stuff to worry about than a car im not driving for awhile. the car is kinda the last thing im worried about right now.

i just wanna solve a problem if its there, not drive it and destroy exspensive parts.

how about a video of it running?

i checked mine today after i got the mufflers installed.. it's still a little noisey but not as bad as it was last year. the only difference is the modified lifters.

yeah you can hear it a little on yours its not as bad as mine. i expect a little noise with the cam but this is excessive.

ben asked me to do a compression check so when its not raining and raw cold out ill go down and do that.

other than that its gotta be shitty lifters or something, cause everything checked out.

that was also the fantastic stock idle table, i didnt get to change it yet. it wouldnt run with the idle table i was using before i had turned the idle way down for the stock engine.

when we first started it up im like so dude who swapped in the diesel when i wasnt looking.

thanks for the vid. the other video you posted sounds awesome.
