    alright so im purchasing my second cutlass hopefully i will have a little better luck with this one and not a like my last one that died a horrible horrible death but thats another story. the car im purchasing is a 96 or 97 cutty supreme. it has about 100,000 miles on it. injectors were replaced at 60,000 along with the intake manifold gaskets. This is my cousins car and he has owned it since new. some guy that was looking at the car to purchase noticed that the head gaskets were worn and or leaking so he is letting it go to me for 700. The car has been taken care of not beat to hell thank god. on my original cutty i replaced the intake manifold gaskets my self so i know a little bit. any work that will be done will be myself with some help. if the head gaskets are going i will change them, and how long do you think i can wait. are there other things i should look at or replace? thanks i just want to have some idea of what else to fix so i dont have a dead car again.

    If a head gasket is leaking then you really don't have to much time...Just the fact that it is leaking mean you'll want to get to it asap. If you continuously overheat you will warp the head. Just replace all the gaskets and dont forget to change the oil pump drive seal WHILE THE HEADS ARE OFF.......Is this a 3.4 TDC or a Pushrod engine?

      its a 3100 with 91,000 miles on it. its possible that a guy trying to buy the car "claimed" that it was leaking to get the price lowered im buying it monday so i can take some pictures and then i could get a better opinion from you guys. he said it hasnt been over heating at all though.

        FYI in the future please post this in the Pushrod maintenace section. Any Admin want to move this to Pushrod maint.

        Just as I said replace the intake gaskets and and the oil pump drive seal when you go for the heads. If you are interested you can do a power upgrade while you are there.
