      Sound clip?

Most 3x00 engines "tap" in their later years, it's called piston slap. Seems to happen to every 3x00 over time, however typically you only notice it when it's cold. This may not be your issue, but probably is.

Do a forum search on it, you'll find tons of threads much like yours.

Mine has a bit of piston slap on cold start up but you have to put your head near the ground to hear it. The tapping noise mine mainly had was a stretched timing chain and hardened dampener. It's pretty much quiet for the most part now.

Unless you put different pistons in there, you wont stop the tap. Just learn to live with it and turn the radio up a tad higher. Once it gets up to temp, the tap will go away

You might have a defective pump. I'd do an oil pressure test with a mechanical gauge to verify pressure....

ive got a box full of the dist drive shafts, some rattle and click, others dont.

the main noise heard there is cam or valvetrain noise and oil pump nose. check cam thrust, timing chain and the like...

9 times out of 10 it's the piston noise that many GM customers complained about and that ultimately lead to the installation of an oil squirter on pistons 5 & 6 in the 3500. Here's a picture of what my #5 & 6 pistons looked like from my 3100 and they were so loud turning the music up wasn't good enough to drown them out completely.

Look here for proof of the likelyhood:

I have piston slap but the noise I heard was not that. It was my timing chain. Now you can start it in cold winter and you have to get under the car to hear the piston slap (it's there) but the clacking/ticking noise is gone since I replaced the timing chain and guide. Now you can hear the injectors firing!!
