Also a hot cooling system tends to pull vacuum once it cools off especially if it looses any fluid while it's hot which is how the earlier over flow tank systems worked. Problem is if the coolant system can pull oil out of the engine as it cools it can put coolant into the engine when it heats up.

In my experience engines with blown head gaskets always overheated when you continue to drive them.

Or after a cool down, then re-start (not overnight or enough time for water to evaporate) - white smoke will bellow from the tailpipe.

If you have brown sludge in your coolant tank/radiator it is more likely DexCool sludge rather than oil.

I dont know....it looks and acts like oil to me. Its little brown circular globs of oil. I thought the dexcool sludge turns your coolant a consistant sludge color.

I would say LIMG. Buy it cheap from him fix it and then sell it for profit or drive it

I'm having the same issue, but the deposits in the coolant tank were very gummy, and hard to clean. I wonder if this was dexcool sludge....
