  • Vibration in Drive

I've noticed recently that my car has been vibrating (with a metallic sound as well) when I have the car in drive and it is fully stopped. I don't know yet for sure, but it looks like my fuel economy has gone back down. The last time I heard this sound was in my dad's truck when his exhaust was going bad again so I think maybe it is that. Anyone have an ideas?

Could be MANY things. Try and narrow down where the sound in coming from in the drivetrain.

I know its coming from the engine bay, sounds almost like its behind the engine. The problem is, when I stop and try to listen to the noise it disappears in park so I haven't been able to check for sure.

Worn motor mounts? When I ripped my mount in half the downpipe would rub the firewall and make a weird noise when reversing lol.

Thats on my possibility list, I'll have my mechanic check the mounts when I get back to my hometown. If it is the motor mounts that may explain the ticking I am hearing, which could be the exhaust smacking the firewall.

My rear header makes that noise since it rubs the firewall a bit

You could take a look under the car.By the passenger side of the frame and the foward corner if you see some fluid, like P/S fluid it might be the motor mount. some for the opposite side only more towards the strut(trans mount)
