  • LG5 timing chain rubs 3400 cover

    Hey guys just wondering if anyones had this happen. Its a 1990 LG5 block with 01 3100 heads intake and 99 3400 timing cover. The timing chain is rubbing the cover pretty good ... is there a clearance issue i dont know about? Thanks!

    Is the chain old and stretched?

      No it was brand new, i havnt seen it for myself yet, the motors at the machine shop so im going to take a few pics and see for myself...

        is it a double roller chain?

          im not sure, i thought i got a stock replacement but i dont remember what the original one looked like either... I didnt know they made different ones beceuase i bought it at napa and i figured it was right...

            Ok yea i think it is doulbe roller, so why would they make these if they dont fit under the cover? What one should i use? thanks for the help

              They were for the RWD engines. Get the non roller chain, which is what the stocker is.

                OK thanks A LOT!!!! WILL DO - I dont know why Napa would give me that when i clearly said 1990 3.1 BLOCK!

                  Umm, because there was a RWD 1990 3.1? If you don't specify exactly what you want, 90% of the time you will get the wrong part.
