  • FPR, is mine bad?

I took the vacuum tube off, and you can smell gas inside it, but not like liquid gas, more like vapor or just smell... Also with the tube off and plugged, I noticed revving from idle is super fast and powerful.. haha

Was there more fuel when you unplugged the vac line? If the diaphram is gone, you could be leaking extra gas into the motor via the referance line, causing bogging. Not a good idea to keep running w/o the ref line on, lean conditions will occur at higher RPM's.

Put a vacuum tester to it and see if it holds.

FF: I don't have a pressure gauge so I can't verify that. I will see if the hotrod/mechanic guy I know has one to verify the pressures. Gas doesn't pour out of the vacuum line, but if you smell the line you can smell gas vapor. I don't run with the line off, I just did that test at idle to smell the line more. And when I was revving it I had the vacuum line plugged so it should of been running more rich at idle with the pressure raised.

Ben: Hmm I don't have one (will check my mechanic friend again) but I can maybe put my manifold vacuum/boost gauge on there with a T and pinch the line and shut off the motor for a quick test? Hehhe.

I will try and find out the pressures with vacuum and without, but I'm wondering if the slight gas smell is something to worry about or if it's just vapor smell coming though?

From my experience with that type of FPR, if you smell gas in the hat, replace the FPR. It won't get better with time, only worse.

yeah theres more than likely a problem with the diaphram in there.

              Measured the pressure last night.
              38 psi w/vacuum, and 46 psi without.

Gas smell in the line was almost impossible to tell after just getting some of the gas in the air from screwing on the gauge to the fuel rail.
