I do not recall my 2.8 ever sounding like an overcam'd v8 !!!

Got almost everything done... Sadly, I have to redo the FPR - must have not gotten an o-ring right - it's leaking fuel onto the LIM

Not sure if I should start another post or not...
the check engine light came on, showing code: 44

I am pretty sure that means low voltage on the O2 sensor... The thing is, it is a brand-new O2 sensor...

Could this be related to the engine still not running right because of the fuel?

I gather that if the air/fuel mixture is too far off (running lean because of not enough fuel???) it will throw a code 44.

FYI - the ECM is from a 93 Buick Regal (a "16149396" ECM) with the 3.1 MPFI and a 4T60-E

    Thanks!

Well, It will be a few more days before I can let you all know about the Idle issue...

It seems that quite a few wires were not hooked up correctly. The Temp gauge isn't reading, the Purge Valve was in the "on" position full time, the radiator fan wouldn't turn on, and I am pretty sure that part of my Idle issue is there was a poor connection on two of the wires going to the ICM.

So, I pulled out the whole harness and will start redoing it tomorrow evening.

P.S. - a quick count estimates that I have just over 150 solder joints to make :shudder:

! Yes make sure your wires are 100% before you go chasing your tail!

It is being a lot fun, I think that I may have figured out the rough idle... The wires to the IAC were not done right.

That is what I get by having an inexperienced person helping me

What sucks is he can design and assemble a circuit board like no one else I know... He made a couple of things for me for this car, including a neat little circuit to read the trans temp sending unit, that will turn on a small fan for the trans cooler...
I guess he just got confused by all the different wire colors

So, I am fairly close to being done, I hope.

There is a possibility that I could have it running (again) as soon as tomorrow afternoon!!!

          Thanks for everybody's help!

Well, the IAC was (i am pretty sure) the problem for the "overcammed V8" sound . The Rough idle is completely gone. Sounds pretty quiet actually now... However, it does still have that low 60* V6 rumble

The Code 44 has also not come back, since the rewire... Not sure what the problem there was...

So far the Buick Regal code doesn't seem to have an issue with the different FDR in the 4T60-E - still have yet to put it on the highway - Tomorrow!

And, one last little issue to figure out - The speedo doesn't work. The Schematics I have say that the ECM puts out a 4000ppm signal... I hooked that up to the "signal" wire for the original Fiero Speedo - The speedo does go to "0mph" when you turn the key on, but I am not getting a speed reading at all. Not even an incorrect one. The ECM is not throwing any codes, much less a code for the VSS.

Oh well - I plan on driving it a wee bit over the next week - Then attack this last problem next weekend - Hope it isn't snowing by then...

            Thanks All!!!
