The motor only has 671 miles on it and now it knocks. The heads are 3400 heads and were tested before use. The turbo is stock Turbo grand prix. First 500 miles were fine but then started hearing a tiny little tap but thoought it was an illusion. Thought it was an exhaust tick or maybe some normal piston slap? It was startin to freak me out and then one night i left a friends house around 6 psi and when boost let out somethin happend and was a tight cluttering noise but raspy... real bad, i backed up and to my buddys house. still felt like it had full compression. Its a got a tight rattly sound and if it is the block this machine shop is in for a treat. my buddy told me new 3.1 pistons have a problem with wrist pins?

3100/3400 have a problem with piston slap when cold, that may be what he is thinking of.
id pull your valve covers and inspect your valve train. did you use a new cam and lifters??? did you break them in correctly??? a rattly sound could be caused by a loose rocker arm, that may be because you wiped a lobe off the cam.

Im not going to tear at it for a couple weeks cause my Vetts gettin a heart transplant in the street so i got no room till it moves. Im sick of trying to go fast, so im dropin my 360 sbc, 509 cam with 3000 converter, that might satisfy me for the end of the summer. Not tryin to knock 60 degrees ( haha knock...) , but they are hard as hell to make fast and maintain. This is my opinion, maybe i lie to myself and hate FWDs.
