  • 3100 Cam Angle Sensor Testimonial

I ignored the bit of wisdom put forth on this site and purchased a $35 cam angle sensor from Auto Zone. When I started the car after reinstalling the power steering pump and buttoning everything up - it ran worse than before. So I went to the dealer and purchased one for $60 and installed it, and while I was at it, I replaced the brittle plastic emissions pipes. The Delco part worked perfectly, and everything under the hood is much happier.

    Lessons learned:

    1) It wasn't worth $25 to have to do it twice.
    2) Start the car and see how it runs before reattaching messy, fluid filled components!

Different nomenclature for the same part, I guess.

autozone sensors are shit. I bought their Borg Warner coolant temperature sensor, and watched my dash gauge peg to red in a matter of 10 minutes of driving. It was giving an output like 50% high.

I put a CPS from Autozone on and less than a year the car starts dying. I think it's the ICM since I *just* replaced the CPS. Well $90 for a new ICM it's doing the same thing. Get a different CPS at ORielly's and it's been fine ever since. Yeah I was mad since now I have 3 different working ICM's, and the CPS is a b*tch to get to.

A friend mechanic also knows to stay away from Autozone electronics.
