  • 3100- 3400 part compatability

hey guys, some of you know me as Spanky on other boards..... so hey.

Here's my question, i've read the 3400 swap guide, but it's into a pre '96 and there's alot of could, should and maybe's for the '96-'98 (still a nice read tho). I've contacted a few local wreckers and they all seem to want about $900. CDN for a 3400 with a starter and Alt., but no other belt driven accessories or exhaust manifolds....... so here's my situation......

Instead of buying all the other accessories will they swap right off the current 3100 that's in my '96 and onto the '00 3400?

It's more of a "i need an engine now" type of situations than it is "i need more power, gotta have it", a 3100 out of an '02 Malibu would probably give me the same questions as the 3400.....

the only other problems that may arise would be the cam sensor and cam trigger...... as another member has already told me..... so it's pretty straight forward by the sounds of it, sure beats the 262,000km 3100 that's in there now!!!

Everything from your 3100 should bolt onto the 3400, aside from that one heater pipe if it threads into your manifold on the 3100, you will have to tap the hole in the 3400's manifold to use the old pipe..

Yea true. But the good news is all you need is a 1/2" NPT tap. No drilling is needed the hole is already the right size
