  • Need help Identifying a part

    Hello,

I am new to the forum and I was hoping someone could help me identify a part. I tried using the "search" but apparently I just don't know the correct name to the part I am looking for. I have a '95 3.4L engine. While replacing the timing chain, I noticed the the bracket or guard that's closes and in between the small sprocket is missing a part and needs to be replaced. I need to know exactly what the name of that part is and would a regular auto parts sote have it?

    Thanks much!

Depending on the size of the broken off piece, it's likely not a problem. I would suspect it is a GM only part.

It is the timing chain damper and it is a common breaking point for older motors. A new part is easy to get at a dealer. You may have to buy a 3100 damper because I believe the 3.4L P/N is discontinued.

Thanks. I was able to find one at advance auto for $9. It worked like a charm.
