i hope you guys can help me. i have a 94 chevy corsica with a 3100 v6that i bought for $200. it ran rough and seemed like it was misfiring or miss timed, so i bought it. i looked it over and found that the plug wires were in the wrong order on the coil packs. he said he replaced the coil packs. i fixed the firing order and cleaned the plugs with a torch (just trying to see if it would run better) since they were badly fouled. when i cranked it it coughed, backfired and wouldnt start. i thought that i might have plugs 4 and 6 mixed up on the coil packs, so i changed them and viola! it fired right up and ran okay, but idled badly and seems to skip under load.
now the problem: i rechecked the plug wires on the coil pack and it was 164325.....but everything i check says it should be 146325. i changed the wires around and it still coughs and backfires, but will start if i hold the throttle to the floor but when i let off it dies. so i changed it back to the 164325 order and it started right up again. ive triple checked the plug wires and they are in the 164325 order. ive driven it a couple days and it seems low on power (but has 145000). could he have put the coil pack on backwards or the wrong coil pack or is there something else wrong? any ideas would be appreciated. im pretty welled stumped right now. thanks in advance.
