  • 1994 GP 3100 Head Gasket replacement...stuck

    Hey guys.

Helping a friend on his 94 Grand Prix.

We have hit a bit of a problem and I have searched the whole site and not found any related info on the matter.

On the passenger side motor mount; there were several bolts which we removed in order to gain access to the head.

Now, there is a T-50 Torx (bolt?) that almost appears that it goes from the top of the mount down to the head.

We have tried everything from a Johnson bar to heating it up with a propane torch and can't get it to budge. Any tips? Once this is done it should be smooth sailing.

    Thanks in advance!

The motor mount should just slide up off of it. I took mine out but it didn't appear I needed to as it seems to be just a guide pin. Once you have all of the other bolts loose the mount should be loose enough to work up off of there. BTW are you sure he needs head gaskets and not just lower intake gaskets as they are prone to fail.

Thanks Dave......I will try that tomorrow!

100% sure its not the lower intake gaskets; we replaced them last weekend and its still overheating.

Its got 374,000 KM on it as well.

Once off check carefully for cracks or have a shop look at it, some will look for free. IF IT HAS TO come off,,AS a LAST resort I grab a sharpened chisel, safty glasses & hammer on any stuck screws , tapping toward the center in 3 places, making "V" indents then in a counter clockwise direction gently striking it ,it should loosen.
