Any thoughts on how to do so in the easiest manner?
    that happens all the time...

the easiest way is to drop the oil pan and push it out from the inside. I spent 8 hours trying other ways on my old 2.8.. then an hour dropping the pan.

you'll need a new pan gasket but that's around $12 from Autozone.

FYI, be carefull with the new style Felpro pan gaskets, they can be a little sharp.

Im dying to know how you got the oil pan off in an hour despite the motor mount hiding a bunch of bolts, and the starter hiding another bunch.

Im talking about a 92 Lumina. are you?

no, he's talking about a cavalier. In J-bodies you only have to pull the starter then you can get to all the pan bolts.......

Yes, it was an 89 Cavalier. I dropped the starter and the flexplate cover and had it off pretty quick.

I also recently replaced the oil pan in my 93 Z24 and it was the same deal.. but this time with air tools :P

            boo ya mother fucker.

Here's how i got it out. I purposely broke off the little bit that was still visible. Then I took a 3 foot piece of 5/16" round stock & bent the last 2" at 90*. I lay under the car, and my dad heated the end of it red-hot. Melt away. Repeat.

Then bent an ice pick to have a nice hook of the end. Stabbed and jabbed til I could get the O-ring out. I little creative melting and hooking and I pulled it out.

            F you oil pan procedure!

            Thanks for the help guys!
