  • BLM = 136 @ idle...

i'm having a Hesitation event when my car is stopped and i hit the throttle really fast. I've been toying with almost every table to try and fix it, but to no avail.

I shoulda posted my problem here initially, but oh well.

here is the link with more details.

*not sure how to add links...

    Thanks for lookin.

You need more fuel on tip in throttle. You also need to check your main ve table and make sure it doesn't have a big gap between 800-1200. Then adjust the idle ve table. The injector offset is something I changed when using larger ford injectors, but that was only because I found what the ford engine used for offset in its code. That worked just fine for me.

I dont have excel installed so I can't look at the log right now.

Here is another datalog of me in my driveway just shifting from park to drive etc. when i shift into park the rpms come up then slowly fall down to ~800, then shifting into drive, the revs drop hard to 625 , then slowly come back up to 800.

i plotted the o2 in a nice graph, and it seems i'm running rich in park, and then lean in Drive

FYI in freescan *bpw doesn't log decimals, so its 0 or 1 instead of 0.875, or 1.239 etc..

dude, i think we all have hesitation off idle. mine got worse after the 62mm TB. then i adjusted my idle stop set screw to open the plate a tad more and it's much better than ever. my idle voltage stock is .54 volts. now i have a rich condition when throughly cold (sitting 8+hours).
also....if i'm looking at your log right, after 25mins of running, your coolant temp never reached 90 degrees. am i right?

my coolant will never hit 90 while the car is in motion. only stop/start, and sitting idling for a bit will trigger the temp to go up... Where are your going with this???

how many turns did you adjust the idle screw? I currently have my idle set to 800rpm in the chip, which seems a bit high, considering the stock 3.1L idles at 650. My alternator doens't seem to spin fast enough at 650rpm with the 3400 though.

theres so many things it could be....i'm grasping at straws these days.

where i'm going is a stuck open thermostat. when sitting, there isn't any airflow through the radiator, so it starts to get hot. the opposite when driving. that would explain the open loop. it's not getting hot enough for the ecm to allow closed loop.

i have the old school 3.1 TB. things are a little different. i have thin washers and a fine thread screw. yeah, mine idles at 750. i have a UD pulley and wanted to make sure the alt was at least where it was for output at idle. and 100 rpm over stock was the difference.

My engine temps are normal, my 3.1L was the exact same temps, and so is my cousins 3100 GP, so i don't think thats an issue at all.

              hmmm.....
