    Is the 2.8l distributer and timing chain the same as the small block V8?

    nope. nothing in the 60 degree v6 is interchangable with a v8. you may be thinking of a 4.3l, as they are pretty much a smallblock missing 2 cylenders.

      Actually the rocker arms are the same. And the rods are the same length and journal diameter. But the 660 has a norrower big end.

        ok rockers is the one exception. i dont consider the rods to be insterchangeable, but they can be made to work. and we are only talking about small journal small block rods, and machining is required aswell as custom pistons.

          words mean nothing, a picture is worth much more...

          here is a gear drive on my Chevy 350, notice the distance between the cam sprocket and the crank...



          here is a pic of a 3400 block, same as the 2.8 as far as spacing...



          you can see that the distance between the 2 sprockets is huge in the '660...
