  • started my car today.....

....after replacing the plugs, 02, and knock sensor.

idles better, doesnt stall when you put it into drive
but it kinda runs (in idle) like bump bump bump bump bump bump bump, and very chuggy when you give it gas, like it does not want to rev, it hesitates when you first step on the gas pedal, exhaust smells ok, not uber rich or nothing
when you put your hand on the exhaust tip it, you can feel the pulses

i did notice that when i pulled the old plugs out that #4 looked new like it wasnt firing, so i think that may be the culprite, going to check that tomorrow

that motor has everything new on it except the tps, temperature sensor, map sensor

oh yea, temp sensor does not show a reading at the instrument panel

tomorrow i will hook it up and get some datalogs, and upload my bin file for you all to look at too, incase sommin is not right in there

so any other ideas why it might run like this?

for those of you that are'nt familiar with my car...

its a 1993 pontiac grand prix
9396 ecu running aubu df code
    2nd gen 2.8L crank/block
    2000ish 3100 topend (small runner i think)
    port&polish heads
    factory manifolds
    comp cams 260H
    1.6 rollers
    4t60-e 3.73
factory cat, and mufler (for now) gonna throw on the hooker muffler and put in a "test pipe" in place of the cat
im in canada so i dont have to worry about emissions

i know the rear cylinder head on the 3.1L has the temp sensor that gives readings to the cluster. if you swapped to the newer topend which you have then you probably didnt account for that and therefor have lost the temp reading. you can use a newer 3-wire sensor but you will have to figure out which wires go where. many people here have done it. i havent yet

ya omg, im such a dumbass... i had the 02 hooked up to what i believe is the instument panel temp sensor wire, it is green and it runs through the injector harness wiring...i think its for the temp sensor in the head

so i followed the a16 wire from the pcm all the way to the firewall, guess what...
yup o2 connector on the end lmfao...

so i got that hooked up and now i need a 3wire cts and figure out what wires are for what, but i believe that i have the pcm hooked up the temp sensor, i hope anyways...

now i guess il drag my spare computer to the car and get a datalog

still runs choppy though, and dances a bit when i put it into gear, and sometimes dies
